Description

NEC rolled out the first model of the UP4800 UNIX server series, the UP4800/520, in April 1991. The 520 was powered by the RISC-based R3000 microprocessor produced by MIPS Computer Systems. Designed to be a core network system machine, the 520 provided database functionality, online transaction processing functionality, and printing functionality.
