Description
Noted IT historian and director of the Charles Babbage Institute (CBI), Misa specializes in the interactions of technology and modern culture. His undergraduate degree was from M.I.T. (1981) and his Ph.D. from University of Pennsylvania (1987).
At Illinois Institute of Technology (1987–2005), Misa taught courses on computer history, the global economy, technology and culture, business history, industrial culture, technological risk, and history of engineering. He has been active in the Society for the History of Technology, the international Tensions of Europe network, and several collaborative research and book projects.
