Participant in the System 38 and AS/400 Operating System development management teams at IBM Rochester, Hedger brings over 40 years of experience in broad software development, software project management, quality management, and consulting.

Richard (Dick) Hedger has owned his own consulting firm, Quality Software Technologies, where he has assisted companies in developing core competencies in software development and new product development processes. Hedger graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (1962) and received his Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1968.

He worked at IBM, Rochester from 1962 until his retirement in 1993, beginning in the Optical Character Recognition group. He then transferred to the management of software development projects, including participation in the System 38 and AS/400 Operating System development management teams. His areas of proficiency include process improvement, the software life cycle, software quality management, and concurrent new product development processes.

Hedger has been a member of the IEEE, ACM, ASQ, TwinSPIN, and the Software Engineering Institute. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Minnesota, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and has been a member of the advisory council. He is a lifetime member of the IT Alumni Society and has served as a board member from 1995.
