Description

Active in the networking and communications industry, Baker chaired a number of IETF working groups, including Bridge MIB, DS1/DS3 MIB, ISDN MIB, PPP Extensions, IEPREP, and IPv6 Operations. He served on the Internet Architecture Board 1996-2002.
Co-authored or edited around 45 RFCs.
Baker served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Internet Society 2002-2008, and was a former member of the Technical Advisory Council of the Federal Communications Commission.
He co-chaired the IPv6 Operations Working Group in the IETF, was a member of the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel and its Architecture Committee, and was Cisco's representative to BITAG.
