Description
Known as the "father" of computing in Canada, Gotlieb started working with computing equipment in the 1940s. He was one of the driving forces behind the University of Toronto's being a leader in computing in North America. Gotlieb has been a leader in the CIPS and ACM organizations since their founding. Although in his 90s, he remains still active.
His early book (1958), written with Pat Hume, "High Speed Data Processing," resulted in eleven words being entered in the OED.
