Description

Greenpoint was a mobile telephone network of the PTT Telecom (now KPN) in the Netherlands. It started in May 1992. It was intended as a cheap alternative to the expensive car telephone.

The handset phone of Greenpoint was called GreenHopper. In the early days, the name Kermit was used to Character Muppet Kermit the Frog. The cost of the license Henson proved so high that an extension was not an option. Because of the cost of the license to bear the name Kermit - it was changed to "Greenhopper"
