HITAC E-600

The HITAC E-600 Series was the minicomputer successor of the HITAC 10II Series, and was announced in 1980. It was a fully-equipped high-functionality 16-bit minicomputer which inherited the traditions of the HITAC 10. The main features of this series included: (1) Improved RAS design, (2) 1 Mword direct addressing, (3) Additional double and triple word length instructions, (4) Improved processing performance using S-RAM (cycle time: 255ns), and (5) A full range of peripheral devices. It had system configuration flexibility due to a 19-inch standard rack mount, and the high-speed internal interface was open to the user. It was used in a wide range of applications, not only in office computing and scientific/engineering computing, but also in OEM-based plant control and distributed network systems.
