The Series 64 was the top-of-the-range HP 3000 when it was introduced in November of 1981. The 64 was HP's first 1 MIP (million instructions per second) 3000 computer. It was 2.6 times the speed of the 3000/44. Pricing on the 3000/64 started at $225,145.
