Description
The Commodore PET (Personal Electronic Transactor) was a home/personal computer produced by Commodore International from 1977 and into 1982. It was the first personal computer with a built-in display as well as the first with a built-in file storage device, a cassette tape unit known as the Datasette. A top-seller in the Canadian and United States educational markets, it was Commodore's first full-featured computer and formed the basis for their entire 8-bit product line. The PET 2001 originally shipped with 4 KB of memory, and that was soon followed with an 8 KB configuration. On the rear of the unit was an IEEE-488 port used for expansion, such as floppy drives.
